Web Viewer Pen Tool

The web viewer pen is a tool for marking content by writing simple text or drawing lines on the web viewer page. Use it to convey information with the web viewer or to mark important parts while reading.

Click the <1gesture> icon in the side menu to use it.

The following features are provided.

Drag to mark the web viewer page. Select the web_asset_off icon to erase all marks. Click the ink_eraser icon to erase only the marks you select.

While you use the pen tool, links, tabs, accordions, and other controls do not work. Click the close button to exit the pen tool.

If a chapter is very long, the pen feature may not work correctly. In this case, hide the pen feature. If you select the “Hide Pen.” option in the web viewer layout, the pen feature is hidden in the web viewer.

Accepting Newsletter Subscriptions

You can accept newsletter subscriptions in the web viewer. Visitors subscribe by entering their name and email address below chapters, blog posts, and video clips. Follow these steps.

  1. Go to the document details page.

  2. In “Basics”, click the <Update Book> or <Update Article> link.

  3. In Options, select “Use newsletter subscription.”.

  4. Click the button.

This option is available for books, short documents, blogs, and videos. It is off by default.

Manage subscribers in the <Tool | Newsletter Subscriber> menu. This menu is visible only to users who have the “Administrator” permission, and you can register subscribers from xlsx and csv files with the <Import> link. The subscription form adds only new email addresses as subscribers. If someone subscribes with an email address that is already in the subscriber list, its name and subscription status are not changed.

WV_404_FALLBACK Option

If the document for the requested path exists but the chapter or paragraph does not, a 404 page appears.

To show the full table of contents of the document instead of a 404 page, run the following command in the Console.

set-preference -name WV_404_FALLBACK -value index

IMAGE_CACHE_FLAG Option

When updated images do not appear because of images cached in the browser, one setting makes all users download the images again. Run the following command in the Console.

set-preference -name IMAGE_CACHE_FLAG -value 2

When you apply this setting, the browsers of all users download the images again at once. If there are many images, the load on the server and network spikes at that moment, so run it during off-peak hours.
