Managing Document Progress

When you write documents, you may work on several documents at the same time or write a document with many chapters. If document authors and group members can see how far each document has progressed, they can write documents more efficiently. The <Progress Management> menu shows and manages the progress of document writing.

Progress Management Menu

In the <1Progress Management> menu on the document details screen, users mark and manage the progress of a document.

In a proofreading paragraph, click the <2View Details> link to go to the <Progress Management> menu.

Document Progress

The progress of a document, based on how much of it is written or how complete it is, is shown as a progress bar. You can set document progress per chapter and mark it from 10% to 100% by dragging with the mouse. You can see the progress of all marked documents at a glance.

Click a chapter title in the chapter list on the left to show only the items of that chapter. Click it again to show all items. Only document owners and collaborators can change the progress.

You can also set the progress of a chapter in the editor by selecting the 1Proofreading tab.

Donut Charts

While the progress bars show the progress of each chapter, a donut chart shows the number of completed chapters so that you can see the progress of the whole document. Donut charts also show how many paragraphs need proofreading, how many items need review or changes, and how many TODOs need to be handled, along with how many have been handled.

Use the "Type" and "Status" menus of the 1grid to select and filter items. Click again to clear the filter and show all items.

For types other than chapters, such as “Proofreading”, an item counts as completed when its status is Closed. When the status is “Closed”, <2Close> changes to <Reopen>.

Comments and Replying to Change Requests

You can add 1comments to each “Proofreading”, “TODO”, “Review Request”, and “Change Request” item. Comments help team members communicate smoothly about the document.

You can reply to a change request with the <2Reply to Change Request> link. A notification message is sent to users who have document access permissions and have turned on watching. If a mail server is configured, an email is also sent.

You cannot reply to change requests that users left without logging in.

Approval

Approval in progress management is available only through API calls. For details, see Approving Progress with the API, and use the following APIs.

On the progress management screen, filter by the "Requested/Approved/Rejected" status to view the items.
