Users with the “Administrator” role can create and delete users and change or set their roles, passwords, and other settings.
Creating a User
The maximum number of users depends on your license type.
Create a user as follows.
Go to the <Admin | Users | Users> menu.
Click the <Create User> link.
Enter the required items, such as “Username”, “Name”, “Email”, and “Password”, and set “Role”, “Group”, and other options.
“Username” can contain only English letters, numbers, and the special characters . - and _.
You can change “Name”, “Email”, “Role”, and other items with the <Update User> link.
Click the button.
You cannot change the “Username” after you create the user.
The roles are as follows.
Role | Description |
|---|---|
Administrator | Can configure users, preferences, and more in the <Admin> menu. |
Create Style | Can set up themes, layouts, and more in the <Style> menu. |
Write & Read | Can create documents and write content from the <Dashboard> menu. |
Translator | Can translate source documents in the translation editor. |
Read Only | Can read documents from the <Dashboard> menu. |
MCP | Can create an API key for MCP connections in <My Profile>. |
Configuring Roles
You can assign users to each role. Configure roles for all users as follows.
Go to the <Admin | Users | Users> menu.
Click the <Configure Role> link.
Select a role from the “Role” list.
In the “All Users” list, select the users to give the role to, and click the <Add> link.
The added users appear in the “Assigned Users” list.
The licensed user count includes only users with the “Write & Read” or “Create Style” role. Users who have only the “Administrator”, “Translator”, “Read Only”, or “MCP” role are not counted.
If only one user has the “Administrator” role, you cannot remove that role from the user.
Changed roles take effect after the user logs in again.
Deleting a User
When you delete a user who is the only “Owner” of a document, the “Owner” permission moves automatically to the person who deleted the user. If the document has other owners, only the deleted user's permission is removed. Project leader permissions are handled the same way.
Delete a user as follows.
Go to the <Admin | Users | Users> menu.
In the user list, click the “Username” of the user to delete.
Click the <Delete User> link.
Click the button to delete the user.
You cannot delete yourself.
Locking an Account After Five Failed Password Attempts
To lock an account after five or more failed password attempts, run the following command in the Console.
set-preference -name ENABLE_PASSWORD_FAIL_LOCK -value true
Users who entered a wrong password five or more times appear as 1blocked in the <Admin | Users | Users> menu.
When a user with the “Administrator” role changes the password, the account can be used again. If the user logs in successfully before the account is locked, the count of failed attempts starts again from 0.
Changing a Password
You can change the password of any user in the user list. Change a user's password as follows.
Go to the <Admin | Users | Users> menu.
In the user list, click the “Username” of the user.
Click the <Change Password> link.
Enter the new password, and click the button.
You cannot change your own password in user management. To change your own password, see My Profile (in Korean).
Preventing Password Resets for Other Users
To prevent users with the Administrator role from changing other users' passwords in the “Users” menu, set "3rabbitz.disable_password_reset=true" in the startup script. For details, see Setting Startup Script Options.
In case users forget their passwords, we recommend configuring the mail server to enable password recovery.
Protecting User Data with Password Re-entry
To require users to enter their password before they access user data in the “My Profile” and “Users” menus, set "3rabbitz.protect_user_data=true" in the startup script. For details, see Setting Startup Script Options.
Users must enter the password every time they open these screens.
If the user enters a wrong password five times in a row, the user is logged out. When the user logs in again, the account lock setting applies.
