In the <Style | PDF Font> menu, you can upload the fonts to be used for building a PDF file.

The <PDF Font> menu is only visible to a user with the “Create Style” role.

    0.1Uploading PDF Fonts

You need to check whether there is a license issue regarding embedding of the fonts to a PDF file.

You can upload the fonts in the following order.

    1. Go to the <Style | PDF Font> menu.

    2. Click on the <Upload PDF Font> link to upload the fonts.

You can upload TrueType Collection files having ttc extensions as well as TrueType font files having ttf extensions.

Only TrueType fonts are supported. OpenType fonts are not supported.

PDF fonts appear in the list as they are combined into font families. For instance, Liberation Serif, Liberation Serif Bold, Liberation Serif Italic and Liberation Serif Bold Italic are grouped into Liberation Serif family.

    0.2Deleting PDF Fonts

When you delete PDF fonts, you should pay attention to the following.

    • If you delete a font used in the PDF Theme, then an exception may occur while building a PDF file.

    • If you delete a font uploaded as TrueType Collection fonts, then all the fonts included in the TrueType Collection file will be deleted.

    • You can not delete Nanum fonts.

    0.3Assigning Alternative Font

An alternative font is the function that can be used to express a certain character by connecting a different font when a specific font may not express it (for instance, Chinese character).

You can set the alternative font in the following order.

    1. Go to the <Style | PDF Font> menu.

    2. In the PDF font list, click on the PDF font that you want to set alternative fonts for.

    3. Using the <Add> and the <Delete> button, set your alternative font.

    4. Using the <Up> and <Down> button, you can change the order of alternative font application.

      • If there are multiple fonts that can process the same character, then the uppermost font will have a priority.

    5. Click on the <Save> button.

    0.4Registering Liberation Fonts

The Nanum fonts installed by defaults are not suitable for English document. So, if you want to prepare an English document, you are recommended to register and use the Liberation font.

Due to a license problem, the liberation font can’t be distributed along with the product package but there is no restriction on use at all.

The liberation fonts are available in three font types.

The PDF Adobe standard font is the one that PDF reader should support. You don’t need to include it in the PDF file but only have to declare it. PDF reader uses an adequate font for each OS when it displays a document, and the reason why this is possible is because the fonts display a same letter with the same width and height.

For instance, if you select the Helvetica font in PDF Theme, it will display by Liberation Sans in preview and when you open up the PDF file in Windows, it will display by Arial and when you open it in Mac, it will display by Helvetica.

You have to register the Liberation font so that you can get correct displays of preview when you use the PDF Adobe standard font in PDF Theme.

You can register the Liberation font as follows.

    1. Download the Liberation font from the following URL.

    1. Move to the <Style | PDF Font> menu.

    2. Upload the downloaded file.

      • Do not decompress the file. Upload it as it is.
