What Is a Static Document?
A static document is a collection of files. Like a web server, it serves various files, such as HTML, CSS, and PDF files, on the web.
Revision history and tags are not supported.
Creating Static Documents
To create a static document, follow these steps.
Go to the <Dashboard> menu.
From the “Create Document” drop-down menu, select <1Create Static>.
Enter the “Basics”, such as the title, and select a language.
Click the button.
Setting Access Permissions
Users are divided into owners and readers according to their document access permissions. Owners can do everything with the document, but readers can only view the files.
Unlike other document types, collaborators are not supported.
Publishing
To let users who are not logged in download files, you must publish the static document.
Managing Files
Basic Features
- Upload
Uploads a file to the current directory. If a file with the same name exists, the file name is changed. For example, if you upload "ManualWorks Installation Guide.pdf" and a file with the same name already exists, the file is saved as "ManualWorks Installation Guide (1).pdf".
- Create Directory
Creates a directory in the current directory. You cannot use a name that already exists.
- Remove All Files
Deletes all files in the static document, not just in the current directory. Once deleted, files cannot be restored.
- Download
Downloads the file.
- Copy Path
Copies the download URL of the file to the clipboard.
- Rename
Renames a file or directory. You cannot rename it if a file or directory with the same name exists.
- Delete
You can delete only empty directories. Deleted files cannot be restored.
Moving Files
1Drag and drop a file or directory to change its location.
Extracting Compressed Files
To extract a compressed file, follow these steps.
Upload a compressed file with the zip extension.
From the context menu of the file, select <Unzip>.
When you extract files, existing files with the same name are overwritten.
