Supported starting with ManualWorks 6.0.3 and improved in ManualWorks 6.0.16. To use document content search, update ManualWorks to 6.0.16 or later.
Searching the Content of All Documents
Search the content of all documents in the 1side panel. The search results appear in tabs.
Grouping Documents with the FINDER_GROUP_SIZE Option
When there are many documents, searches can be slow. In this case, documents are 2sorted by title and searched in groups. The default group size is 100 documents.
To change the size, run the following command in the Console.
set-preference -name FINDER_GROUP_SIZE -value 1000
Choose an appropriate value based on the specifications of the server where ManualWorks is installed and the number of users.
Notes on Searching All Documents
You need the “Write & Read” role.
Only books, short documents, blogs, and similar documents are searched.
Only documents you have access permissions for are searched.
Chapter titles and all paragraphs are searched.
Only the latest content is searched. Past revisions and tagged content are not searched.
The search is based on the editor. Unlike the web viewer search, content referenced from other chapters or paragraphs is not found.
When the search term contains spaces, the search finds paragraphs that contain all of the words.
When a document changes, its index file is regenerated.
Data Storage Location
Document index files for search are stored in the DB_DIR/ngram directory. To keep the number of directories from growing too large, ManualWorks creates subdirectories named after the first 2 characters of the document UUID and stores the files in them.
