Updating the Software Manually

Because of settings in the system environment where ManualWorks is installed (such as upload file size limits or blocked uploads of archive files), the Software Update feature might not work. In that case, update by copying the update file directly.

1

Download the installation file.

Download the installation file for your operating system from the 3Rabbitz download page. If you cannot access the 3Rabbitz website, request the installation file from customer support at support@3rabbitz.com.

2

Copy the installation file

Copy the downloaded installation file to the server where ManualWorks is installed. We recommend checking the checksum of the copied installation file.

Do not extract it, and do not rename it. The update is applied only if the name starts with 3rabbitz and ends with .tar.gz or .zip. If the name does not match, the set-update-file command reports an error.

3

Log in as a user with the Administrator role, and open the 1Console (at the bottom left).

For details, see Console.

4

Run the set-update-file command

set-update-file -f '/home/rabbitz/3rabbitz-2025-0544.tar.gz'

Specify the absolute path of the ManualWorks installation file with the -f option. If the path has no spaces, you can omit the single quotes.

The ManualWorks installation file for the update must be on the server where ManualWorks is installed.

For details, see set-update-file.

5

Restart ManualWorks

For details, see Stopping ManualWorks and Starting ManualWorks.

The update is applied while ManualWorks is stopping, so do not kill the process. The update replaces the web/WEB-INF/web.xml file with a new one. If you have customized this file, set KEEP_WEB_XML to true before the update.
