Clearing the Java Heap Memory Cache Every Day

To optimize the Java heap, you can have the scheduler clear objects that stay in the Java heap every day. Enter the following command in the Console.

set-preference -name SUPPORT_CACHE_CLEAR -value true

When this option is on, the scheduler that cleans up user tokens (UserTokenClearScheduler) also clears the cache every day at 3:20 a.m. You can change the run time in the <Admin | Servers | Scheduler> menu. With redundant servers, it runs on the main node and tells the other nodes to clear their caches too.

For performance, ManualWorks caches document tables of contents and other data in the Java heap. With many documents, memory can run short. In that case, use this option.
